Run a quick speed and network test
Play a short non-live video, or open a website. If it also lags, the issue is your connection. Read internet not working and, for home broadband, JioFiber and Jio AirFiber not working.
Lower the streaming quality
In the player settings choose a lower resolution. Live matches run smoothly at lower quality on a weak network.
Close the app and reopen it
Fully close it, wait ten seconds and open it again. On a TV, use the apps menu to force stop the app if it allows.
Restart the device and the router
Switch off your TV, phone or laptop, and also unplug the router for a minute. Then power on the router first and the device after.
Update the app or the TV software
Open the store on your phone or TV and look for a newer version. On old smart TVs the app may stop working once the TV software is too old.
Log out and in
Open your profile, choose log out, and sign in again with your registered mobile number and the code you receive. Do not share that code with anyone.
Clear data or reinstall
On Android clear the app cache in Settings, Apps. On a TV, uninstall and install again. Downloads on a phone may be removed.
Check date, time and plan
Set automatic date and time, then confirm in your account that your plan is active and allowed on this type of screen.
JioHotstar not working on TV
The TV app is separate from the phone app, so it can fail on its own. A frozen app, a black screen or a sign-in loop on a TV is often cured by an app update plus a full TV restart. Make sure the TV shows a working connection in its network settings.
