Jio internet not working can look like no bars, bars with no data, very slow speed, or apps that say no connection. The cause is one of three things: your phone settings, your plan or SIM, or a network fault in your area.

Fix the cheap, quick things first: balance, airplane mode and the data switch. Then look at network mode and APN settings. If the signal drops for everyone nearby, it is an outage and only Jio can repair it. Below you will also find what to check for Jio video calls, Jio apps and Jio mobile data that stops only at home.

Common causes

  • 1Data pack finished or plan expired

How to tellInternet stops suddenly, calls may also be blocked, and the app shows zero balance

  • 2Mobile data switch turned off

How to tellWi-Fi works but no data icon shows on mobile data

What fixes itTurn on mobile data in quick settings and check the right SIM is chosen for data

  • 3Network fault in your area

How to tellNeighbours on the same network also have poor signal or no data

What fixes itTry again later; report the fault in the Jio app or helpline

  • 4Wrong network mode or stuck connection

How to tellSignal bars show but pages do not load, or 5G keeps dropping

What fixes itReset the access point names to default in the mobile network settings

  • 6SIM not seated well or damaged

What fixes itRemove and reinsert the SIM; ask a store for a replacement if it is worn

  • 7Indoor coverage or crowd

What fixes itMove near a window, try Wi-Fi calling where available, or use another time

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Check plan validity and data left

Open the Jio app and look at your daily data and validity. Many plans have a daily limit that drops speed or stops use after it ends. A plan that has expired can cut data first and calls later. Recharge or add a pack if needed.

  2. Switch airplane mode on, then off

Turn airplane mode on for ten seconds, then off. The phone then searches the network again from scratch. This simple reset fixes many cases where signal bars show but the data connection is stuck.

  3. Check the mobile data switch and SIM slot

Pull down quick settings and make sure mobile data is on. On a dual SIM phone, open the SIM settings and confirm the Jio SIM is the one set for mobile data. Phones sometimes switch data to the other slot after a restart.

  4. Restart the phone

Restart, not just screen off. Wait about a minute for the signal to settle. If you have a data saver or a VPN app, turn it off for the test, because those can block traffic.

  5. Change the preferred network type

Go to Settings, then Network and internet, then SIM or Mobile network, and open the preferred network type. Try 4G, then the auto option for 5G. If 5G is flaky in your area, use 4G for stable speed. See Jio 5G not working for 5G specific steps.

  6. Reset the APN to default

In the mobile network settings, open Access Point Names and choose the option to reset to default. Do not type random values from the internet. If no Jio entry appears, a Jio store can give you the right settings.

  7. Reinsert the SIM

Switch off the phone, take out the SIM tray, wipe the gold contacts gently with a dry cloth and put it back. If the phone says no SIM, see Jio SIM not working and SIM card not working.

  8. Test the SIM in another phone

Put the SIM in a different phone. If data works there, your phone settings or hardware are the cause. If it fails there too, the SIM or the area network is at fault and the store or helpline should be your next step.

Is Jio down today or only my phone

Ask a few people nearby on Jio whether they have data. Check the Jio app and its official social account for fault notices. Open any website on your phone using another operator's SIM or on Wi-Fi to rule out the website being down. If several Jio users around you lose data together, it is a network issue that needs time, not settings changes.

At home you see full bars but every app says no internet, while the same phone works fine at the market. Your area tower is congested or under work. Try again late at night, and report the repeated fault in the app.

Why Jio internet not working affects only some apps

If only the streaming app or a Jio app fails but browsing works, update the app, clear its cache and sign in again. For Jio to Jio video calls, both phones need a strong 4G or 5G signal and the calling feature enabled on the SIM. If a streaming app shows an error while data is fine, the subscription may need to be linked to the right number from its own help page. Related guide: apps and websites not working.

Jio network problems at home

Indoors, thick walls and high floors weaken the signal. Move to a window or balcony to test. Wi-Fi calling can help calls where it is supported. For constant home use, a fibre connection is steadier than mobile data, and its problems are covered in JioFiber and Jio AirFiber not working.

When to visit a Jio store

Go to a store or contact customer care from the app if your SIM shows no network even in another phone, if the SIM is physically damaged, if your balance was deducted but data never started, or if the fault continues for more than a day across your area. Carry an ID proof for SIM replacement.

Never share OTPs, KYC codes or your SIM serial with unknown callers who claim to fix your network. Jio will not ask for these on a random call. For general help see internet not working.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Jio network not working today?

It can be a local tower fault, a plan or data limit that ended, or a phone setting. Check with neighbours on Jio and look at your balance in the Jio app before changing settings.

Why does Jio show signal but no internet?

The phone is registered on the tower but the data session is stuck, or the APN or data switch is wrong. Toggle airplane mode, check that mobile data is on, and reset the APN.

Why is Jio internet very slow?

Common reasons are the daily high speed data finishing, a crowded tower, poor indoor signal or an app downloading in the background. Check usage in the app and test in another place.

Does a wrong network mode stop Jio data?

Yes, a phone stuck on an unsupported mode can lose data. Set the preferred type to 4G or auto and restart.

Can I fix Jio data not working without a store visit?

Most of the time yes. Balance, airplane mode, SIM slot, network type and APN reset solve nearly all phone side faults. A store is needed for damaged or deactivated SIMs.
