This site is not affiliated with Lloyd; this is an independent explanation.
If you came here for a Lloyd AC error code list, start with this: the display on a Lloyd split or inverter AC gives a short code such as E1, E3, E6, F1, H6 or P4, though one letter and number can carry a different meaning from series to series. The control board is reporting that a sensor, fan, signal or protection check failed, and it has limited or stopped cooling.
The three codes owners see most are E1, E2 and E6, and their common meanings are below. For anything else, use your manual or Lloyd authorised service with the model name from the indoor unit. Boards, sensors, wiring, compressors and gas belong to a trained technician, so this page only lists what is safe at home.
Common causes
1Voltage drop or an outage and return
How to tellCode pops up once, right after the supply was disturbed
What fixes itGive the AC a rest at its breaker and start again
2Clogged filter and weak airflow
How to tellCooling slows down, pipe is wet or frosty, longer runs
What fixes itWash the filters thoroughly and dry them before refitting
3Room or coil sensor misreading
How to tellE1 or E2, fan runs but the compressor stops early or runs nonstop
What fixes itSensor is tested, and swapped if bad, at a service visit
4Indoor and outdoor not exchanging signals
How to tellE6, outdoor fan is still while the indoor side is on
What fixes itLook at the outdoor supply, then book a visit
5Fan or capacitor trouble
How to tellFan starts slowly, hums or stalls, with a fan related code
What fixes itService staff test the motor and its capacitor
6Compressor or overload protection
How to tellOutdoor unit starts and drops out, P or H type codes
What fixes itStop restarting and call authorised service
7Low refrigerant
How to tellPoor cooling with ice and a protection code
What fixes itLeak finding and recharge by qualified service staff only
How to fix it, step by step
Take a clear note of the code
Read the exact letters and digits from the display, or count the lamp blinks if no digits show. Also note whether the compressor ever ran. This tells service if the fault is sensing or starting.
Switch off and wait
Press off on the remote, then keep the AC's own breaker down for a little while so the board can clear its memory. Turn on and choose Cool at 24 degrees. A once only code usually leaves.
Clean the filters properly
Lift the front panel and remove the filters. Wash in clean water, shake off the extra, and dry fully in shade. Refit them the right way up.
Make sure the outdoor unit has supply
Confirm the wall switch serving the outdoor unit is on. Look for a clear space around it. Do not remove the cover or reach in.
Try the remote and a different mode
Fit fresh batteries and test Fan only, then Cool. If Fan works but Cool cuts off with the same code, a sensor or outdoor issue is likely.
Do not chase the code with repeated restarts
A second try is fine. After that, a genuine fault will only get worse, and the compressor will be stressed.
Contact Lloyd authorised service
Say the model name, the code and the steps you took. For related problems, our Lloyd E5 page covers that display on its own, and AC not working or not cooling helps if no code shows.
Lloyd AC error code list: E1, E2 and E6
| Code | Commonly reported meaning | Who fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | Room temperature sensor fault | Technician |
| E2 | Indoor coil sensor fault | You wash filters, technician if it stays |
| E6 | Indoor and outdoor communication fault | You check supply, technician if it stays |
Searches for lloyd ac e3 error code, lloyd ac e4 error code, lloyd ac f6 error code, lloyd ac h6 error code or lloyd ac cl error code are common, but the meanings change by series and some are not safe to guess. Ask service to match the code to your model number before they replace anything.
Lloyd inverter AC E6 explained
The lloyd inverter ac e6 error code is usually about the two units not talking. The indoor board waits for an answer from the outdoor board and, when it does not come, stops the cooling. A tripped outdoor switch, a loose connecting cable, a faulty board or voltage trouble can all give it.
After a thunderstorm the AC powers up, the indoor fan runs and the display shows E6. The outdoor unit is silent. The outdoor switch had tripped during the storm. Switching it on and giving the AC a rest cleared the code.
Window, split and inverter differences
A window AC has no outdoor communication, so E6 style link codes are for split and inverter models. Fixed speed splits have fewer codes, and inverter splits add protection codes for the drive and compressor. Use the model name, not the AC's tonnage, when you look up a code.
Money, warranty and safety
Keep every cover closed, do not touch the board or wires, and never add gas or bridge a sensor yourself. Doing so is dangerous and may end your warranty.
Sensors cost least to fix, fan parts and boards more, and a compressor or leak repair most. The quote moves with warranty cover, the AC's age and the access to the outdoor unit, so get it in writing.
Avoiding repeat faults
Wash the filters on a schedule, service the AC before the hot season and use a stable supply. A tidy outdoor space with no cloth, leaves or water around the unit also helps. To compare with other makes, the main AC error codes guide explains the shared ideas.
Frequently asked questions
What does the E6 error code mean in a Lloyd AC?
On most models E6 means the indoor board hears nothing back from the outdoor board. Check the outdoor supply, rest the power, and book a visit if E6 returns.
What is the E1 error in a Lloyd inverter AC?
E1 is commonly the room temperature sensor (the lloyd inverter ac e1 error code and the lloyd inverter ac e3 error code both follow the model manual). Service should test it, since the AC may cool poorly or stop early.
Does Lloyd E2 mean the filter is dirty?
E2 is often the indoor coil sensor, and a dirty filter or coil can contribute. Wash the filters first, and if E2 stays, the sensor needs checking.
How can I get the Lloyd AC error code list for my model?
Open the manual that came with the AC, or ask the Lloyd service centre, quoting the model from the sticker on the indoor unit.
Can I keep using the AC while a Lloyd code is showing?
Not for long. If the code repeats, stop. A protection code means the AC is guarding something, and running it can cost more later.
